A new safety switch set cleared that, then the steps refused to start with error code 02-CD; following Matrix’s troubleshooting guide for that code, reseating the connections between the brake and the lower control board fixed it, and the machine passed ten test starts before we left.

An emergency stop that would not release

The ClimbMill kept reporting its emergency stop as engaged, so it could not be used. Our technician replaced the safety switch set, and the machine stopped showing the e-stop.

Then a second error, and Matrix’s guide for it

With the power back on, the steps never moved and the console immediately threw error code 02-CD. Matrix’s troubleshooting guide for that code starts with the power wire from the brake to the lower control board, which showed no damage. A diagnostic light on the lower control board was lit.

Our technician powered the unit down, unplugged and reconnected every connection between the brake and the lower control board, and powered it back up. The ClimbMill ran normally with no error codes.

Tested until it was boring

On a busy health club floor a stair climber that fails again an hour after the technician leaves is worse than one that stays roped off. Our technician tested the machine at least ten times to be sure no brake fault or error code returned before signing the job off.
