What goes wrong, from our repair notes
Rollers, drive belts and bearings on Cybex treadmills
The Cybex repair we do most, on the 770T in particular: front and rear rollers whose bearings have become noisy, drive belts, and a drive motor replaced because its bearings had become noisy. On one 770T the front roller’s belt pulley was misaligned from the factory.
Cybex handsets, keys and sweat
Error 16 points at the quick keys and the handset’s communication wire, and error 4 at a stop button that has taken on moisture. We find dried sweat and dust on upper control boards and overlays peeling back from the handset. A Hit Zone error on a Cybex treadmill was cleared by replacing the control zone.
Life Fitness treadmill belts
Noise from a drive belt that has worked out of alignment on its pulleys, a walking belt that creaks until the belt and deck are cleaned and lubricated, and front rollers that need replacing.
Strength cables, pivots and push pins
Cables whose sheathing has torn until the cable jumps a pulley, replacement cables made to a custom length with the right end fitting, worn handles, and routine lubrication of guide rods, pivot points and push pins on Signature and Optima machines.
Warranty work
Life Fitness and Cybex are not among the manufacturers we are authorized to perform warranty work for (Core, Johnson Health Tech, Spirit, FreeMotion, Icon and Echelon), so our work on them is out-of-warranty repair, quoted per property. What does error 16 mean on a Cybex treadmill?
On the Cybex treadmills we have diagnosed, error 16 has pointed at the speed and incline quick keys and the communication wire between the handset and the treadmill. Worn keys are the obvious suspect, but replacing them alone has not always cleared it.
Can you replace a cable on a Life Fitness strength machine?
Yes, including cables that have to be made to a custom length with the correct end fitting. A cable with torn sheathing should be taken out of use until it is replaced.
What is a Hit Zone error on a Cybex treadmill?
On the Cybex treadmill we repaired, the Hit Zone error was cleared by replacing the control zone, on the same visit as a damaged cup holder.
