Since December 2024 our technicians have logged more than 300 repairs on StairMaster equipment, and warranty labor on a covered machine is billed to Core rather than to you.

What goes wrong, from our repair notes
Quick-start keys, overlays and handrail buttons
The most common StairMaster repair in our notes: a quick-start key or overlay that has stopped responding, or speed and stop buttons on the handrail that have failed. We test continuity from the wire harness to the buttons before ordering, so the right piece is replaced.
A StepMill that stops a few seconds into a workout
Starts, then pauses itself after a few seconds, often with no error code. The speed sensor, the safety sensor, the lower control board, the brake and the drive motor can all produce this symptom, and Core’s troubleshooting rules them out one part at a time. Our Austin case study took five visits and four parts, all under warranty, before a new lower board fixed it.
Step and brake sensors
A step sensor error on a 10G, or a brake sensor knocked out of alignment on a 4G, stops the machine as a safety measure. We check the wiring and connection first, then the sensor’s position; the Dallas case study was fixed by realigning one.
Noise from the drive
A drive motor with its brake replaced to stop a reported noise, once the noise had been traced to it.
HIIT Rower resistance
A HIIT Rower chain that pulls with no resistance but still retracts, diagnosed with the console alongside it.
Warranty work
We are an authorized service center for Core Health & Fitness, which makes StairMaster. Core’s technical support works through a written procedure for each StepMill symptom, and it ships a warranty part only after it has the technician’s close-out notes, so our write-ups follow that procedure step by step. Are you an authorized StairMaster service center?
Yes. StairMaster is made by Core Health & Fitness, and we are an authorized Core service center, so warranty labor on a covered StepMill or Gauntlet is billed to Core rather than to you.
Why does my StepMill stop after a few seconds?
Several parts can cause it: the speed sensor, the safety or brake sensor, the lower control board, the brake or the drive motor. Some are fixed by an adjustment on the visit; others need parts in a set order from Core’s troubleshooting procedure, which is why we never promise a first-visit fix.
Do you service Gauntlets and StairMaster HIIT equipment?
Yes. The 8 Series Gauntlet, the HIIT Rower and HIIT Bike, BoxMaster and Jacobs Ladder all appear in our repair records alongside the StepMills.
Can a StepMill be fixed without parts?
Sometimes. The Dallas StepMill in our case studies needed only its brake sensor realigned. Others need Core’s troubleshooting and a part, which ships once Core has reviewed the technician’s notes.
